The Medical Image Analysis Research Group is part of the Health department and currently consists of 9 researchers working on a variety of topics including digital pathology, echocardiography, image-guided surgery, bronchoscopy, and dental health. The group comprises researchers and developers with backgrounds in machine learning, software development, robotics, and medical image analysis. We work closely with a range of clinical partners and the medical technology industry, both nationally and internationally to develop next-generation digital solutions for healthcare.
Our goal is to make a difference for patients and healthcare professionals. To achieve this, we need independent, eager-to-learn, and proactive individuals with a genuine interest in medicine and healthcare.
In recent years, we have built up extensive activity in research and development based on medical images and related data. To further strengthen this activity and increase capacity for more projects, we are now seeking a researcher.
Key responsibilities:
- Project development and project management
- Contact with clients and partners
- Data management (collection, organisation, and maintenance of data)
- Programming
- Training and validation of deep learning models for analysis of medical images/data
- Sales and grant writing
- Scientific and popular science publishing and dissemination
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a university degree at MSc or PhD level in a relevant field such as computer science, computer engineering, cybernetics, or equivalent
- Has experience leading research projects
- Is familiar with funding mechanisms and has experience applying for research grants
- Has experience with scientific publishing \
- Has a solid understanding of medical image analysis, deep learning, and statistics
- Is proficient in Python and deep learning frameworks
- Has strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken
- Has experience with interdisciplinary collaboration
- Will actively contribute to a positive working environment
