The evolution of deformation texture during an axisymmetric extrusion of an Al-Mg-Si aluminium alloy is simulated by coupled finite element method (FEM) and polycrystal plasticity modelling. The FEM-simulations provide spatial and temporal history of strain, strain-rate and temperature, i.e. the deformation history, along selected particle paths. The deformation history is subsequently transferred to polycrystal plasticity models for the simulation of the deformation texture evolution. In particular, Alamel-type models which are advanced Taylor-type polycrystal plasticity models have been employed. The predicted textures are compared to experimental results and to full-constraint (FC) Taylor texture predictions. It is shown that the Alamel-type models perform better than the FC-Taylor model and compare well with the experimental results.
