SINTEF has carried out an analysis of emission reduction measures from the construction site activities for the renovation project Storgata nord in Tromsø. This involves a mapping of possible measures that can contribute to greenhouse gas emission (GHG) reduction in the construction phase for the renovation project. GHG emission calculations and an additional cost analysis have been carried out for the different scenarios that are developed in collaboration with Tromsø municipality. The purpose of the analysis is to map the potential measures Tromsø municipality can consider implementing in this project, showing both the effect on GHG emission reductions and any additional costs this might lead to. The results from the analysis of emission reduction measures show a potential reduction in GHG emissions of 133–247 tCO2eq. by using alternative fossil free or emission free solutions for construction machinery, mass transport and thawing processes. The additional cost analysis shows that additional costs of between 125 950–720 650 Norwegian kroner (NOK) can occur when using alternative fossil free or emission free solutions for construction machinery and thawing processes. However, there might be cost savings of between 922 300–1 383 500 NOK for the alternative mass transport solutions.
