13CNMR experiments and methods used to investigate amine -CO2-H2O systems

Sammendrag

By using 13C Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, direct qualitative and quantitative information on the species formed during the absorption and desorption of CO2 in aqueous amine solvents can be acquired. In this paper, an overview of the state of the art of 13C NMR studies performed on amine-CO2-H2O system, with a specific focus on the methods used to perform quantitative analyses, is presented. It is concluded that, for possible improvements of the efficiency of cyclic CO2 capture processes, NMR spectroscopy gives important contributions in investigating the chemical reactions occurring in amine-CO2-H2O systems.
