We are looking for an ambitious and entrepreneurial researcher who is eager to take a key role in developing and managing research and innovation projects. This position is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of science, innovation, and collaboration. You are not only technically skilled, but also proactive in identifying opportunities, initiating new projects, and building strong networks across industry and academia, particularly in relation to national and EU-funded projects (e.g., Horizon Europe).
You will contribute technically to cutting-edge projects in areas such as decarbonization, process technology, energy transition and low emission oil and gas production while also playing a leading role in project development, management, and strategic outreach.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to and lead scientific and technical work within ongoing R&D projects.
- Take initiative in developing new project ideas, in collaboration with clients, partners, and internal experts.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across disciplines to develop innovative industrial solutions.
- Act as project manager or work package leader, coordinating activities, partners, and deliverables.
- Proactively engage in funding acquisition, including writing proposals for national and international calls (e.g., Horizon Europe) and joint industry projects (JIP).
- Build and maintain a strong professional network across industry, academia, and public stakeholders.
- Represent SINTEF in consortium meetings, conferences, and strategic dialogues with clients.
Qualifications
- MSc or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or applied science.
- Proven experience from industry (e.g., O&G, process and chemical industry, etc.), applied research, or academia is a strong advantage.
- Strong interest in or experience with research-based innovation, project development, and funding applications.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, you are proactive, opportunity-driven, and not afraid to take initiative.
- Strong communication and networking skills, you enjoy meeting new people and building partnerships.
- Experience with EU frameworks (e.g., Horizon Europe) is an advantage but not required.
- Structured, self-driven, and team-oriented with good project coordination skills.
- Excellent English skills (oral and written). Norwegian is an advantage.

The Department for Process Technology consists of 4 research groups in Trondheim, 2 in Oslo and 1 in Porsgrunn. The office location for these positions is at the SINTEF Multiphase Flow Laboratory at Tiller in Trondheim, so it is an advantage if you have a driver's licence and own transportation.
