SINTEF Industri søker engasjert forsker til å styrke vårt team og bidra innen våre prosjekter spesielt rettet mot prosessutvikling og det grønne skiftet. Vi ser etter en kandidat med høy faglig kompetanse innen analytisk kjemi og massespektrometri og motivasjon for anvendt forskning.
Arbeidsoppgaver:
- Utvikle, gjennomføre og lede forskningsprosjekter
- Planlegging, utførelse og rapportering av eksperimenter
- Metodeutvikling for prøvepreparering og analyse
- Samarbeide med andre forskere og industripartnere og bidra med innspill og kompetanse til hvordan analytisk kjemi kan brukes for å løse vitenskapelige, samfunnsmessige og industrielle utfordringer
- Skrive og publisere vitenskapelige artikler, samt formidle forskning til allmennheten
I SINTEF blir du en del av prosjektteam i ulike prosjekter, der du samarbeider med kunder fra både norsk og internasjonal industri, andre forskningsinstitusjoner og andre SINTEF-medarbeidere.
Formell kompetanse:
- PhD eller MSc i et relevant fagområde
- Kompetanse og erfaring innen analytisk kjemi
- Erfaring med kvantitativ og kvalitativ analyse
Erfaring:
Vi ønsker at du har erfaring med gasskromatografi (GC, GC-MS, GC-MS/MS etc.) og molekylær massespektrometri på organiske forbindelser. I tillegg ser vi gjerne at du har erfaring med og interesse for ett eller flere av følgende områder:
- Prosessutvikling
- Industrimålinger, inklusive in-line- og at-line-analyser
- Gassanalyser
- Rent vann og avløp, resirkulering
- Programmering, dataanalyse og håndtering av forskningsdata, data mining.
Personlige egenskaper:
- Ha gode analytiske ferdigheter, være kvalitetsbevisst og ha en systematisk tilnærming til vitenskapelige problemstillinger
- Evnen til å jobbe kreativ og selvstendig
- Være god til å samarbeide og til å etablere, utvikle og opprettholde faglige nettverk og samarbeid
- Ha meget god framstillingsevne skriftlig og muntlig, på engelsk, og – fortrinnsvis – på norsk eller annet skandinavisk språk.

Hvem er vi?
Forskningsgruppen Massespektrometri har bredde- og spisskompetanse som etterspørres innen markedsområder som helse og nye medisiner, CO2-fangst og det grønne skiftet, mineraler og materialer, prosessutvikling, mat/fôr og landbruk. Våre prosjekter gjennomføres i tett samarbeid med industri, universiteter og andre forskningsinstitusjoner. Vi er i dag ca. 20 svært dyktige forskere og ingeniører som bruker massespektrometri og andre analytiske teknikker. Vi driver en moderne plattform med analytisk instrumentering som GC- og LC-MS/MS, ICPMS/MS, laser ablation, FFF, CE, DLS, TD-GC, MALDI, og høyoppløselige massespektrometre (HRMS/FTICR, QTOF). Vårt mål er å være en ledende og muliggjørende FoU-partner innen fysiokjemisk karakterisering og avanserte organiske og uorganiske analyser i Europa.

Research scientist with expertise in analytical chemistry and mass spectrometry

SINTEF Industry is looking for an engaged researcher to strengthen our team and contribute to our projects - especially our projects related to process development and the green shift. We are looking for a highly skilled candidate with expertise in analytical chemistry and mass spectrometry and strong motivation in applied research.
Tasks that will fall to a new employee will be:

- Develop, implement and lead research projects
- Planning, execution and reporting of experiments
- Method development for sample preparation and analysis
- Collaborate with other researchers and industry partners and contribute input and expertise to how analytical chemistry can be used to solve scientific, societal and industrial challenges
- Write and publish scientific articles, as well as communicate research to the general public
At SINTEF you will be part of project teams in various projects, where you collaborate with customers from both Norwegian and international industry, other research institutions and other SINTEF employees.
Qualifications:
- PhD or MSc in a relevant field
- Competence and experience in analytical chemistry
- Experience with quantitative and qualitative analysis
Experience:
Additionally, we would like you to have experience with gas chromatography (GC, GC-MS, GC-MS/MS etc.) and molecular mass spectrometry on organic compounds. Experience with and an interest in one or more of the following areas would be an advantage:
- Process development
- Industrial measurements, including in-line and at-line analyses
- Gas analysis
- Clean water, sewage and recycling
- Programming, data analysis and handling of research data, data mining.
Personal characteristics:

- Have good analytical skills, be quality-conscious and have a systematic approach to scientific issues
- Be creative and independent
- Be good at collaborating and at establishing, developing and maintaining professional networks and collaborations
- Have very good presentation skills in writing and orally, in English, and – preferably – in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language. We offer Norwegian courses for non-Norwegian speaking employees.

Who are we?
The Mass Spectrometry research group has broad and specialist expertise that is in demand in market areas such as health and new medicines, CO2 capture and the green shift, minerals and materials, process development, food/feed and agriculture. Our projects are carried out in close collaboration with industry, universities and other research institutions. We are currently around 20 highly skilled researchers and engineers who use mass spectrometry and other analytical techniques. We operate a modern platform with analytical instrumentation such as GC- and LC-MS/MS, ICPMS/MS, laser ablation, FFF, CE, DLS, TD-GC, MALDI, and high-resolution mass spectrometers (HRMS/FTICR, QTOF). Our goal is to be a leading and enabling R&D partner in physicochemical characterization and advanced organic and inorganic analyses in Europe.
