Research group Digital Process Innovation

In the Digital Process Innovation research group, we work with applied research in close collaboration with private and public actors. Our research themes are agile software engineering, team autonomy, digital transformation, and how to become a data-driven organization.

All our research is done in close collaboration with public and private businesses that can be defined as software-intensive organizations. This means that software or software-based services are the main product, or that advanced software solutions form the basis of the business.

Virtually all aspects of society are being digitized and most organizations are undergoing a digital transformation. This is one of our focus areas where we do research to find new knowledge about how digital transformation can develop the business, improve business models, and increase competitiveness, and how the business can utilize an ever-increasing supply of data to become a data-driven business. As an effect of the pandemic, we have also had a major focus on hybrid work in knowledge industries, where we see that employees and employers are thinking completely new about what are good strategies for knowledge work. We also research flexible methods and strategies for developing systems with high requirements for cyber security, safety and scalability. This is particularly relevant within the energy and transport domains, and for critical infrastructures.

The research group has a strong professional environment with a large international network where we work in interdisciplinary project teams. We work closely with our customers through research-based consultancy, workshops, data collection, analysis, idea development and implementation of research findings. The research has a direct benefit and impact on the customers' strategy and development. We emphasize dissemination of knowledge both in scientific channels and directly towards software-intensive businesses.

The research group has a close collaboration with NTNU and UiO, i.a. through Geminisenter Software Engineering.

Related research areas: System development - Digital transformation - Industrial cyber security.
