Research approach

Overpressure simulations using the Pressure Ahead tool .
  • Use of subsurface competence, software and laboratories for O&G, but mainly for new applications areas outside O&G
  • Laboratories for studying and monitoring fluids in the subsurface across different scales
  • Geodrones laboratory with drones and sensors for surface and shallow subsurface characterization and monitoring
  • Development of extensive suite of in-house software
    • Example: Modelling of the fluid pressure distribution over geological periods of time and up to present day

Laboratories

Drone Laboratory

Drone Laboratory

SINTEF Drone Laboratory is an arena for development of drone hardware and software.

Reservoir Laboratory

Reservoir Laboratory

The Reservoir laboratory provides methods and equipment for performing experiments at reservoir and production conditions.

Projects

KinLib - The Kinetic Library

Start:
End:

Modelling of hydrocarbon generation as a function of thermal history relies on the knowledge of the reaction network and kinetic parameters involved. We obtain kinetic models of hydrocarbon generation and cracking for individual compositional ranges...

OF-Mod - Organic Facies Model

OF-Mod - Organic Facies Model

Start:
End:

A new development phase for OF-Mod has now started. OF-Mod (Organic Facies Model) simulates the deposition and burial of organic carbon in the marine environment in 3D. The simulation results can be used to predict the spatial and temporal occurrence...

Organic Facies (OF-Mod development phase 2)

Start:
End:

A new development phase for OF-Mod (Organic Facies Model) software that simulates the deposition and burial of organic carbon in marine environment in 3D.

Software

Organic facies prediction (OF-Mod)

Organic facies prediction (OF-Mod)

OF-Mod simulates the deposition and preservation of organic carbon on a basin scale. It can be applied to both modern and ancient siliciclastic marine environments.

Palaeo-water depth reconstruction (SEMI PWD)

Palaeo-water depth reconstruction (SEMI PWD)

The SEMI Palaeo-Water Depth (PWD) module provides high resolution 3D palaeo-bathymetries for sedimentary basins. The method is based on present day stratigraphic depth maps as the main criterion for the PWD reconstruction. During the work-flow...

PRESSEIS

PRESSEIS

The novel approach to pressure prediction is combining interpretation of seismic data with basin modeling techniques in order to properly assess the relevant mechanisms contributing to overpressure build-up.
