Our expertise
We are experts in the interplay between technology, people, and society. We use this knowledge to develop and evaluate digital systems that contribute to a more sustainable, inclusive, and well-functioning society, and that meet people's needs and preferences. The group works multidisciplinarily across computer science, media communication, psychology, and natural sciences. We are experts in:
Our research is directed at both the public and private sectors, and spans multiple domains such as:
How we work
We develop solutions that address concrete needs in business, the public sector, and society. We work closely with customers and test and evaluate solutions together with end-users to ensure that the technology developed creates value in practice.
The group uses methodologies such as:
- Service design
- Participatory design
- Inclusive design
- Design science
- Agile innovation
- Specific methods include:
- Observation
- Interviews
- Co-creation (co-design and workshops)
- Surveys
- Experiments
- Prototyping (Web solutions, IoT, Machine Learning models, chatbots, etc.)
- Case studies
What sets us apart?
We are an interdisciplinary group with broad expertise across a variety of areas and methodologies. This enables us to handle a wide spectrum of knowledge and innovation needs, particularly complex problems and critical environments where safety, trust, and sustainability are especially important. We are well accustomed to including users throughout the research process and working closely with customers to ensure a good the relationship between technology and people.
An international environment
The research group participates in international research projects and collaborates with leading research environments, universities, and organizations globally. Several of the projects are funded through EU programs and international research initiatives.
Our researchers actively contribute to international expert communities within HCI, service design, XR, and human factors. The group publishes research in recognized scientific journals and conferences, and collaborates with technology providers, public actors, and industrial partners.
Some highlights
