SafeBESS: Technology and building design for safe operation of battery energy storage systems
SafeBESS consortium meeting and workshop
This time, the meeting was split between the ZEB Laboratory at Gløshaugen and RISE Fire Research’s facilities at Tiller. We had the pleasure of welcoming Eco Stor as new partner in the project. They will contribute with battery modules and packs for testing in addition to bringing in a great deal of relevant competence related to implementation of battery packs in buildings.
The first part of Monday’s meeting was allocated to updates on the fire tests performed on modules from Siemens Energy. Additionally, we were given insights into the progress made on the simulation model development, which is a model based on the experimental data provided by NTNU and RISE. After lunch we were transported up to RISE’s facilities at Tiller, where we were given a tour of the laboratories used in SafeBESS. The photo below shows the group outside the RISE FR main entrance.
Here, we were also given an update on the PhD work which is done in collaboration with the other research partners. Several publications based on this work are in the pipeline. When the publications are finished and accepted, copies will be provided on the SafeBESS web sites.
