Sustainable development with economic growth is not possible in Norway without a strong manufacturing industry. The main challenge will be the maintenance of organisations when serial sizes are reducing and product variations are growing. It is this which is the focus of production-oriented research at the Department of Production Technology. Our goal is to safeguard the expectations of the Norwegian manufacturing industry and to conduct internationally recognized research in the field of manufacturing.
Manufacturing Technology Norwegian Catapult Centre
Manufacturing Technology Norwegian Catapult Centre (MTNC) is a so-called catapult or testing centre where industrial companies can test new technology and new solutions. The centre is lead by SINTEF Manufacturing on behalf of NCE Raufoss.

Development of materials and processes for 3D-printing of components for fire stopping vents
The objective of this project is to develop an intumescent material and a corresponding production process for automated industrial production of components for a patented type of fire stopping vents for buildings.
