Oxyfuel capture retrofit - SP3
Key oxyfuel components (burner, calciner, clinker cooler) should be tested independently (corresponding to reaching TRL 6), before proceeding to the design of a full oxyfuel cement demo plant (TRL 7). In CEMCAP, the oxyfuel burner and calciner are to be tested in duly adapted existing test rigs at the University of Stuttgart. A pilot-scale clinker cooler test unit is to be designed, built and tested on site with a synthetic oxyfuel flue gas at an operating HeidelbergCement plant, since continuous access to hot clinker is necessary for the testing.
