GOMPLAR - Governance of Marine Litter in the Arctic
The main objective of GOMPLAR is to describe, compare and analyze two regional international regulatory and governance frameworks addressing marine plastic litter in order to draw conclusions for possible solutions in the Arctic, seeking synergies and interplay mechanisms between a possible circumpolar arrangement and the two regional ones.
Compareit addresses how new production systems should be regulated, administered, and where they could be best located, which are highly relevant questions for a sustainable development of the industry that safeguards other societal interests and competing claims to space.
NordSalt will assess the nature, diversity, extent and long-term changes of Nordic coastal marsh habitats, to evaluate their role in climate regulation and to assess their vulnerability and change in ecological structure and functions under future climate warming scenarios, local environmental pressures and management decisions.
Ocean engineering collaboration across the Atlantic
In March 2020, SINTEF Ocean signed a collaboration agreement with the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) to advance research and innovation in ocean engineering. This new collaboration was announced virtually on June 17, 2021.
CO2 heat pumps smart option for hotels in cold climates
Researchers have studied the energy consumption of 140 hotels in Norway and Sweden. The use of CO2 heat pumps could cut energy consumption in these hotels by about 60 per cent.
