Laboratories
All our labs have designated contact persons. SINTEF builds and operates important research infrastructure and we have over 100 laboratories that form the basis for our research. From zero-emission buildings, to ocean basins, nano, CO2, electrical engineering and full-scale aquaculture sites - world-leading laboratories, from ocean space to outer space.
Electrotechnical laboratories
SINTEF Energy Research operates laboratories for high voltage, high power and climatic testing. Customers are manufacturers, suppliers and users of electric power equipment.
Heat Laboratory
In the heat laboratory, we perform testing of thermal technical material and functional properties for thermal insulation materials, other materials, and components where the thermal technical properties are of interest.
HighEFFLab
National Laboratories for an Energy Efficient Industry for improved utilization of available industrial surplus heat and a reformation of the efficiency in various industry processes.
Material Laboratory
In the Material laboratory, we test material and functional properties on building products, mainly for use in barrier layers in building structures.

Smart Grid Laboratory
NTNU and SINTEF have built a new National Smart Grid Laboratory in Trondheim with funding from the Research Council of Norway in cooperation with the Artic University of Norway and Smart Innovation Østfold.
