Per Gunnar Auran is the research leader for the Software Product Innovation (SPIN) group in Digital. He has 20 years of experience from the private sector in software development for large-scale search (Fast Search & Transfer/Overture/Yahoo!), recommendation systems (Zedge), and marine environmental monitoring (Aptomar) prior to joining SINTEF in 2016 with a focus on applying big data technology to marine data and analysis challenges.
Education
Dr. Auran has a master degree (1991) and a PhD (1996) in Engineering Cybernetics from NTNU. He has an extensive and broad experience in research and development activities from both private industry and independent research institutes, including leadership on high-level technological development and research projects.
Competence and research areas
Auran's main expertise is in research and developing of new innovative technology that combines sensor and image processing, large scale data analysis, big data technology and advanced systems for information extraction, search, recommendation and visualization.
