At SINTEF Digital, we research how technology can improve health services — in terms of quality, efficiency, and sustainability.
Our research includes
- Medical technology and image analysis – enabling personalised diagnosis and treatments that are effective, safe, and of high quality.
- Artificial intelligence and performance technology – promoting personal health, coping, and performance.
- Workplace health and sickness absence – ensuring a healthy, inclusive and competitive Norwegian working life.
- Digital transformation and health economics – accelerating the implementation of digital solutions and technologies that enhance productivity in the Norwegian healthcare system.
- Mental health and social inclusion – developing solutions that support young people struggling in everyday life, and including older adults facing challenges in an increasingly digital world.
- Prevention and public health – fostering a healthy and happy everyday life while reducing pressure on Norwegian health services.
- Sensor technology for health applications and diagnostics – contributing to faster and more accurate diagnostics, enabling earlier disease detection, improved patient treatment, and reduced societal costs.
Health technology provides the tools and solutions — health services are about how these are used in practice. We study how new technology can be implemented in ways that actually work, and we know that user involvement, training, and organisational adaptation are crucial for success. We also develop methods that accelerate the development of new medicines, reduce the use of laboratory animals, and make clinical trials less invasive.
Our goal is to contribute to the health services of the future: more accurate, more personalised, and more sustainable — both economically and socially. It is about using technology to achieve more with less, while creating better experiences for both patients and healthcare workers.
