Norway - along with the rest of the world - needs more renewable energy. At SINTEF Energy, we are researching how to build and operate renewable energy in a way that ensures cost efficiency, sustainability, flexibility, and energy security.
Ensuring synergy between energy technologies to achieve cost efficiency, sustainability, flexibility, and energy security.
The Energy Technology Department delivers solutions based on electrical power and electrotechnical materials. We have strong expertise in electrical power engineering, materials technology, physics, and chemistry, and work closely with NTNU.
The Department of Energy Use focuses on efficient, clean energy use in industry, data centres, and power and heat generation. It covers processes like combustion, gasification, and pyrolysis of fossil fuels, biomass, and waste.
Our main disciplines are thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, energy process optimisation, and value chain analysis. We are about 70 researchers in five groups covering energy and process research.
