Learnings from the Pre-ACT campaign at the Svelvik CO2 Field Lab

Abstract

The Svelvik CO2 Field Laboratory was designed for the development and testing of methods for quantifying saturation and pressure, in particular for CO2 monitoring applications, and is part of the European CCUS research infrastructure initiative (the ECCSEL laboratories). The site design focused on cross-well geometry to provide the best possible data quality for method development. Main installations consist of an injection well (65 m deep) surrounded by four monitoring wells (100 m deep) as well as CO2 and water injection facilities. We describe and summarize results and observations from the CO2 injection conducted during the Pre-ACT experimental campaign and focus on the lessons learned that may help planning future experiments at the site.
