Safe@Sea

Safe@Sea addresses the strategic objective to reduce the risk of injury in complex systems through advanced personal protective equipment. The main objective of Safe@Sea is to develop a new generation of advanced personal protective clothing for the fishing industry that will lead to a significant increase in safety without reducing work performance. Fishing is among the most dangerous of all professions.

The concept behind Safe@Sea is to increase safety by implementing improved solutions for buoyancy, tear and puncture resistance, head and hand protection, emergency warning and positioning systems. This will be achieved by the integration of state of the art materials and ICT systems and the development of new high performance materials. An ergonomic design will be developed to solve the contradictory requirements of functionality, comfort and safety. The project has 13 partners including SMEs, research organizatons and interst organizatuion from all over Europe. SINTEF is the coordinator of the project.
