ENFIELD is an EU-funded project that aims to create a European Centre of Excellence for research withing four main pillars:

  1. Adaptive AI
  2. Green AI
  3. Human-Centric AI
  4. Trustworthy AI

This initiative will contribute to shape the future of AI development, deployment, and societal integration. Our mission aligns with Europe's strategic priorities in AI, ensuring its adoption in key sectors.

The four pillars of the project address the pressing needs of digital and environmental priorities. Green AI focuses on sustainable AI solutions, while Adaptive AI is instrumental in real-world AI applications in dynamic environments. Humancentric AI emphasizes ethical, fair, and transparent AI use, whereas Trustworthy AI ensures reliability and security.

ENFIELD's research excellence extends across four vital infrastructure sectors: energy, healthcare, manufacturing, and space. The energy sector, integral to the EU's climate goals, is essential for the REPowerEU's vision for an independent and sustainable energy system. Healthcare depends on AI applications being developed with a focus on privacy and fairness. Manufacturing can greatly benefit from AI through enhancement of efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The space sector, increasingly crucial globally, strengthens the EU autonomy in space exploration.

SINTEF Digital plays a vital role in ENFIELD with expertise in AI, particularly within Green AI. Our research and innovations in energy-efficient AI technologies contribute significantly to the Green AI pillar, aligning with Europe's environmental objectives and reinforcing ENFIELD's commitment to sustainable AI advancements.
