Iliad - Digital Twins of the Ocean

Iliad aspires to create interoperable, data-intensive, and cost-effective Digital Twins of the Ocean.

Contact persons

Every last Thursday of the month, you get to hear and discuss with us about digital twins of the ocean: data, models, and services in Norway. This is the Norwegian branch of Iliad - Digital Twins of the Ocean.

We start this week (November 30, 2023, 3:00-4:30 PM) with:

  • Norway’s role in Mercator International, by Eivind Lorentzen
  • Norwegian Forum for Ocean Data, by Beate Kvamstad-Lervold
  • Industrial data sharing for Digital Twins of the Ocean, by Tom Redd

Bente Lilja Bye, Arne Jørgen Berre, Antonio Vasilijevic, Tom Redd, and Ute Brönner are the speakers.

Register here, and you will receive the link afterwards.

Objective

Iliad will create an infrastructure for digital twins of the ocean with both a marine and a maritime perspective. The system will combine existing and new ocean modelling systems and ocean observatories in a common platform, and will exploit existing data collection systems including new sensor technologies. The project is part of a larger collaboration between several projects under the EU Green Deal and Mission Ocean programmes.

SINTEF´s role in the project

SINTEF is responsible for coordinating the technical architecture for digital twins, as well as for pilot applications for past, present and future ocean data in interaction with digital twin applications for e.g. offshore wind farms, pollution, aquaculture, biodiversity, maritime transport and ports.
