Vegard currently holds a young researcher grant, developing an electrostatic additive process. His partners are SINTEF Industry, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) Laser Physics and Atla Lasers. He is also operating in National- and European-research projects on additive manufacturing (AM), together with managing the AM-research group at SINTEF Manufacturing.
Education
His background is from a master's degree in sensor based deep turning at NTNU together with Sandvik and GKN Aerospace (2010). From mid-2010 his focus was on Powder Bed Fusion (PBF), and early in 2015 he got his PhD on hybrid use of PBF at NTNU (2015). After this, Vegard has been applying PBF and Directed Energy Deposition for development within many material systems and prototypes for industrial use. These uses include tooling for molding and casting, offshore, maritime, aerospace and automotive
