What is Operando XPS?

Operando XPS combines traditional XPS analysis with controlled environments that mimic real-world conditions. By performing measurements under near-ambient pressure or in reactive atmospheres, we can monitor chemical and electronic changes as they happen.

Capabilities

  • Near-Ambient Pressure XPS (NAP-XPS): Conducted at synchrotron facilities for high-resolution analysis under realistic conditions.
  • Real-Time Monitoring: Tracks chemical states and reaction intermediates during active processes.
  • Environmental Flexibility: Investigates surfaces under gas, liquid, light exposure, or electrical bias.
  • Correlation with Performance: Links electronic structure and surface composition to functional behavior.

Applications

  • Photocatalytic reactions and energy conversion processes
  • Gas-solid and liquid-solid interface studies
  • Corrosion and protective coatings
  • Dynamic surface transformations in electronic devices

Why It Matters

Operando XPS provides insights that static measurements cannot—helping design better catalysts, energy materials, and functional surfaces. Our expertise in sample preparation, experimental design, and data interpretation ensures meaningful results for both academic and industrial partners.
