Global Impact Policy Dialogues – NTNU and SINTEF at COP30

Webinar on Wednesday 14 January

COP30 in Belém, Brazil marked a critical moment in global climate negotiations, with discussions spanning energy transition, climate finance, biodiversity, and the role of science and technology in shaping pathways to a sustainable future. NTNU and SINTEF were part of the Norwegian delegation, contributing research-based perspectives on renewable energy, carbon capture, and equitable climate solutions. This Global Impact Policy Dialogue brought together delegates from NTNU and SINTEF to reflect on their experiences from Belém, share key takeaways, and discuss what COP30 means for research, innovation, and Norway’s role in global climate governance.

In the seminar, we explored:

  • What were the major topics and outcomes at COP30?
  • Who were the dominant actors, and how did alliances shape negotiations?
  • How do NTNU and SINTEF work as delegates in such global forums, and what does participation look like in practice?
  • What opportunities and challenges arise for research and innovation in the wake of COP30 decisions?
