A Survey of Wireless Sensor Networks for Industrial Applications

Abstract

In this chapter an overview of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) for industrial applications is presented. It includes an introduction to the basic components and properties of WSNs, and discussed the motivation and drivers for using WSNs for wireless instrumentation. Furthermore, industrial applications and their requirements are identified, before concluding with a survey and evaluation of existing international WSN standards and technology.
