The Process of Designing Serious Games - from a Linear Innovation Model to an Agile Actor-Network model

Abstract

In this paper I have showed how the PRIME project executes its process for developing a serious game is being executed. In a design process the biggest risk are the interest and actions of the actors involved. Design and programming can follow an agile method, but it is important to have constant focus  on the different actors involved as well. I have presented a science and technology study (STS) approach in addition to the agile process, which can help in enrolling all users in the games scenario. In this approach ""follow the actor"" is the most important method. This means that you should explore how the different actors position themselves in a design process, if they go with the crowd, are negative to the project or passively demonstrates. I have not gone in details on how all the actors in PRIME design process has co-operated, but I argue that this approach can be used as an addition in how agile design processes are carried through.
