Nordic Innovations based on Microsystems

Abstract

A Nordic project, MINUT, has been carried out in 2004 and 2005 to demonstrate the innovation potential for the Nordic industry and create better synergy between national actors within all Nordic countries. The project goals have been to stimulate collaboration, create synergies among Nordic microsystem technology (MST) performers, and accelerate the industrial take-up of MST in the Nordic countries. The basic idea is that there is large potential and strong industrial acceleration when ease of access is established among research centers, technology suppliers, and companies across the borders of the Nordic countries. Establishment of a common Nordic competence area within MST therefore is vital for future innovation. From the Awareness phase up to the Feasibility projects run within this project it is shown that this type of initiative is really needed at the Nordic level and has to be further sustained.
