A heuristic for maritime inventory routing

Abstract

In maritime inventory routing, a fleet of vessels is employed totransport products that are produced and consumed in differentports, in order to keep stock levels in each port legal. In addition, regular bookings/orders may be transported. We describe constructionand optimization heuristics that can solve a wide range ofproblem variants, including pure inventory, pure tramp, mixed, single/multiple products, tank stowage, tank cleaning, boil-off. Theresults are competitive in cases where a MIP solver is available forcomparison.
