Abstract
The main purpose of this report is to explore adaptive manufacturing from an enterprise level and down to the shop-floor level by giving a broad overview with some deep-dives into the concepts of adaptive manufacturing. Throughout the report several examples are presented aiming to illustrate adaptive manufacturing aspects as well as to motivate the reader by showing applications that can be accommodated to their respective companies. Where concrete industrial examples have been identified these have been included in the report to illustrate the broad scope of adaptive manufacturing. It’s important to note that finding and reporting real-life industrial applications are challenging since they usually are classified and owner-protected information. Industrial examples have therefore, in most cases, been derived from academic papers where case-studies and examples are given. Examples from the participating companies of Alupart have not been included in this report as these are considered to be known to the reader.
