Statistical Analysis of Wind Speed Data. The Autocorrelation of Hourly Wind Speed Observation

Abstract

A large-scale introduction of wind energy in power sector causes a number of challenges for electricity market and wind farm operators who will have to deal with the variability and uncertainty in the wind power generation in their scheduling and trading decisions. So far observational data along with mesoscale weather forecast models have been used to make wind/energy predictions. In this report, a statistical analysis based on autocorrelation analysis is presented of the windmast data from Bessaker wind form. In this work, we also show some preprocessing strategies before having a fair statistical analysis on raw data.
