Abstract
An exploration drilling has been carried out at the Trolla field in the Norwegian Sea in 2009. At the same time, DNV carried out an environmental survey at the drilling site during the execution of the drilling program. The survey included measurements of currents and turbidity, deposition of particulate matter in sediment traps and sediment sampling. In addition, particle size determinations of the cuttings discharged were carried out based on samples collected on the drilling rig. The present report compares DREAM model simulation results with the measurements from the field. Model simulations are executed for various cases, assuming that the measurement results represent the “ground truth”. The numerical model results show reasonable agreement with the measurements.
