Integrated biomass gasification for production of second generation biofuels under Norwegian conditions

Abstract

The biorefineries are fed by 150 MWth (HHV basis) of biomass of woodchips and torrefied woodchips. The biorefinery design is based on high temperature entrained flow gasification followed by catalytic Fischer-
Tropsch synthesis. Process modelling software (Aspen Plus) is utilized to organize the mass and energy streams. Product yield and energy efficiency of the whole process are determined by energy integration
technique.
KEYWORDS: Biomass Gasification, Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, Energy Integration, Combined heat and power.
