Abstract
The annoyance caused by exposure to environmental noises is only partly determined by the accumulated noise level such as DENL (or DNL). A number of other factors may also affect the annoyance response. The standardized CTL method for establishing exposure-response functions is ideal for quantifying the effect of all non-DENL factors (commonly referred to as “non-acoustic” factors). A case study on how residential greenery modifies annoyance from road traffic noise has been presented.
