Abstract
We present an extension of the integral multiscale computational framework for the optimization of the microstructure in metal additive manufacturing. We focus now on the effect of the laser scanning pattern on the microstructure. In addition, we test the platform with another macroscale module based on Simufact Welding and for process parameters representative of LPBF instead of DED.
The laser scanning of a surface with different patterns without building a multi-layer domain is simulated. Results show that the microstructure is very different from previous DED results and that significant improvements could be achieved by optimization of the pattern and possible laser heat treatment.
