Abstract
This introductory chapter outlines the motivation, conceptual foundation, and contributions of the edited book “Sustainability Transitions and Industrial Transformation: Multi-Sector Dynamics and Policy Perspectives”. The book addresses the urgent need for systemic change in response to climate and environmental crises, acknowledging the importance of better understanding industrial transformation and inter-sectoral dynamics in addressing these challenges. It explores these topics through the lenses of multi-system dynamics, the role of firms and industries, and policy. The chapter reviews existing literature on these perspectives and summarizes the key contributions of the book, which include both empirical and conceptual studies. Ultimately, the chapter positions the edited volume as a timely and interdisciplinary contribution to advancing knowledge on the processes of sustainability transitions and how they can be fostered.
