Electric vehicles with fuel cells that run on hydrogen are one among several sustainable supplements to fossil fuels enabling the same convenient transportation as today. European project H2moves Scandinavia sets out to gain customer acceptance for electric vehicles with fuel cells in Scandinavia. It is the first large scale demonstration project supported by the newly established European Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking Programme. Support is also given from both Danish and Norwegian (Transnova) national funds.

Project Objectives:

  • Consolidate existing H2-fueling hub in southern Norway and add one new station of latest design
  • Roll-out latest state-of-the-art hydrogen fuel cell vehicles operated by private customers
    Communicate project performance
  • Actively link Scandinavian Hydrogen Highway Partnership (SHHP) to European network

Project Deliverables:
Vehicles

  • Sedans: 10 Daimler B-Class
  • City cars: 5 Th!NK EVs with FC range extender

Hydrogen Refuelling Stations (provided by H2Logic)

  • 1 stationary station at SINTEF in Oslo, 70 MPa, capacity of min. 200 kg/day achievable (400 kg feasible)
  • 1 mobile refueller for EU demonstration tours

SINTEF's contribution to H2movesScandinavia:
SINTEF is coordinating the activity co-financed through the Norwegian public body Transnova, including the assembly and establishment of the hydrogen refueling station at Gaustad (Oslo), supporting the establishment of Regulations, Codes and Standards. More specifically SINTEF is engaged in linking the project to other national activities (primarily HyNor), providing communication support and reporting financially as well as scientifically to Transnova.
