Centre for Quantum Communication Networks and Applications — QCNA

We will conduct research on making telecommunications infrastructure quantum-secure using QKD, a technology that, in the long term, will be crucial to ensuring that sensitive data is not compromised.

The project is part of the national center for quantum communication, led by Simula UiB.

SINTEF’s main task is to integrate QKD technology into a classical telecommunications infrastructure. This will be an important component in securing sensitive data when quantum computers capable of breaking today’s encryption algorithms become available.

In addition, SINTEF will conduct research on modeling quantum channels, i.e., how qubits are transmitted from one device to another.
