Sustainability transitions demand novel skill sets
Green transitions will impact all societal sectors. In industries, operators are met with new demands and expectations regarding their skills and knowledge. A significant share of this re-skilling for sustainability will have to be directed at today’s workforce, taking the forms of on-job learning and further education courses.
This project sets up regional innovation collaboration following the Triple Helix principles: Research- and development institutions actively support bio-based industries in pursuing sustainability and regional value creation, by developing and introducing a novel further education concept. The development of this further education courses is funded and supported by Trøndelag county municipality.
Tailored to the region
The regional bio-based industries have been actively involved through workshops (multi-actor approach) in defining and shaping the courses developed. The research institutes NIBIO, SINTEF and Nordland R&D offer relevant cases and practical examples of industrial sustainability and circularity transitions, while Nord university delver the course through their platforms, wrap the examples up in theoretical frameworks, and ensure that the the course quality awards university level credit points.
A project in three phases:
- Sustainable value creation from land and sea
- Circular bioeconomy: Opportunities within the region
- Sustainable innovation and industry development
- Sustainability adapted to bio-based business organisations
