Anne Sigrid Haugset

Research Scientist

My main fields of work are food systems, land use, and the green transition. I am particularly interested in how complex social and ecological systems can be translated into indicators, models, and decision support without losing the key underlying mechanisms. I enjoy working at the intersection of society, technology, and natural resources, where different disciplinary perspectives must be connected to understand the drivers and barriers of transformation, innovation, and sustainability.

Education

I hold a PhD in Sociology from Nord University (2025).

Competence and research areas

My academic background is in organizational research and institutional theory. I work with the interactions between actors, institutions, governance systems, and knowledge systems over time. I use qualitative and quantitative methods to understand, represent, and analyse complex systems.
My particular research interests include:

Social-ecological systems
Innovation, transformation, and institutional change
The interface between social science, models, GIS, digital twins, and decision-support
