KPN WINDMOOR

Advanced Wave and Wind Load Models for Floating Wind Turbine.

Contact person

WINDMOOR's main goal is to enable a more efficient design of floating wind turbine farms, by improving load analysis methods.

Key knowledge needs that are addressed include:

  • Validated hydrodynamic load models for low-frequency excitation and damping of floating wind turbines.
  • Better understanding of the consequences of atmospheric stability and aerodynamic interactions between turbines for floating wind turbine dynamics.
  • Efficient global analysis methods for floating wind turbines in a farm formation, including aerodynamic interactions relevant to shared anchors, power cables, or mooring lines.

Experimental testing is used to support numerical analysis, including high-fidelity models.
