PILOTING

PILOTING is aiming to increase the efficiency, safety and quality of inspection and maintenance activities. The primary application will be in civil infrastructures such as tunnels and bridges, as well as refineries.

Contact person

European infrastructures are aging and require careful inspection and maintenance. In the PILOTING project new robotic solutions are being explored to develop low-cost yet large-scale systems that can assist with infrastructure maintenance.

PILOTING is also aiming to increase the efficiency, safety and quality of inspection and maintenance activities. The primary application will be in civil infrastructures such as tunnels and bridges, as well as refineries. The current barriers in inspection and maintenance robotics will be overcome by developing an open and scalable I&M platform. The platform will adapt the use of advanced robotics supported by artificial intelligence for I&M. In the project the full value chain is integrated to demonstrate the benefits of the PILOTING technological developments.

SINTEF will contribute mainly in the research on perception and navigation in locations such as tunnels, where satellites cannot be used for positioning. This requires that other sensors are used for navigation, and solutions for sufficiently accurate navigation will be developed.
