Ph.D project on safety in the fishing fleet

This project use anthropological method and theory to study the health and safety in the fishing fleet.

Field work in different vessels, interviews with key stakeholders and surveys of active fishermen are essential approaches. Through increased insight into the fishermen's professional life, working conditions and work practices as well as focus on different organizational levels, the current regulatory and supervisory authority's role, the goal of the PhD. is to increase knowledge about factors that affect security in daily life.

The conditions in the fishing fleet is also seen in a historical context, to shed light on the evolution of safety thinking in the industry. The project will provide an overall picture of an industry that meet the growing demand for systematic HSE work.
