The tools will continue to be developed based on our solid theoretical- and practical experience. Several of our software products are commercially available and well-known in the industry.
In our Structures Laboratory we are testing the above products, both at a full-scale and at a component level. We can also perform tests aimed at increasing our understanding of special phenomena such as cyclic compression and bending of cables. Our hydrodynamic laboratories are used to study effects in which interactions between hydrodynamic loads and structural responses, such as vortex-induced vibrations, play a central role.
SINTEF Ocean`s most important clients are Statoil, ExxonMobil and BP, in addition to supply companies such as NOV Flexibles, GE Oil and Gas, Nexans, Technip, Oceaneering and ABB. We also have extensive contacts with major international engineering companies such as Aker Solutions, Reinertsen Engineering, Kongsberg and IKM Ocean Design.
