Robot technology

SINTEF is working on the development of robot technology and the cybernetics community at NTNU/SINTEF is one of the world leaders in the field of snake robotics. At last twenty people are working on robotics, which is one of SINTEF ICT’s major areas of involvement.

The scientists are working with robots used in the manufacturing industry.

Robots that grip and lift, fetch and move things. About health-care robots that are developing into a new field, where robot assistants can help elderly people to live for longer in their homes.


First and foremost, however, the department dels with service robots that are used for inspection and maintenance tasks.

NTNU and SINTEF have set up a Gemini Centre for advanced robotics.
