Here is the aquaculture boat of the future, as SINTEF research scientists see it. From bow to stern, it features solutions designed to look after health, safety and environmental concerns in the aquaculture industry.

The aquaculture industry suffers from many work-related accidents. This is the basis for a project where SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture has designed the next generation of aquaculture boat on its drawing board.

The boat is full of suggestions that can reduce the risk of strain injuries and accidents on board. These solutions include lifting equipment, remote-controlled operation of cranes and the securing of loads in permanently mounted bins. In addition, heavy weight is removed from the deck and relocated safely at the stern of the boat.
