Energy systems analysis

With solid experience from the development of the Nordic power market—one of the most well-functioning in the world—we provide analyses of how technological and societal changes affect the energy system today and in the future. Our expertise offers valuable insights into a continuously evolving, cross-sectoral energy landscape.

We develop scenarios for the future Nordic and European energy system, based on the green transition, where large-scale integration of renewable energy sources plays a central role. Our analyses address electrification and the interaction between multiple energy carriers such as electricity, heat, hydrogen, and gas in integrated energy systems. Through sector coupling between power, heat, transport, and industry, we identify challenges and opportunities for creating an efficient and sustainable energy system.

Our expertise also covers aspects related to energy security, preparedness, and planning under uncertainty, contributing to a robust energy system capable of handling both technological change and unforeseen events.

We support stakeholders in the energy sector with analyses and strategies for future solutions. Typical assignments include the development of scenarios and transition strategies.

Our work covers:

  • Future energy system scenarios

  • Integrated solutions with multiple energy carriers

  • Electrification and sector coupling

  • Modelling of renewable energy and uncertainty

  • Market and system analyses

  • Energy security and resilience
