Webinar: Progress in hydrogen-firing of heavy-duty gas turbines for decarbonized power generation

The webinar will introduce and describe the fundamental combustion challenges caused by hydrogen-enrichment of turbulent premixed flames at the high-pressure conditions typically encountered in gas turbine combustion systems.

Presenters: Andrea Gruber, SINTEF; and Andrea Ciani, Ansaldo Energia

New insights into the behavior of hydrogen combustion at high pressures suggest that sequential combustion systems bring an intrinsic advantage in respect to flame stability and emissions. The application of sequential combustion into a H-class gas turbine will be described together with the latest experimental findings obtained by testing its combustion system on a rig reproducing full-engine conditions.
