SINTEF's vision is Technology for a better society, and the research institute has been involved in the aviation industry since the beginning in 1950. We develop new technology for air traffic management and have been a member of the EU programme SESAR since the beginning in 2008. SESAR is the technological pillar of the EU’s Single European Sky policy and a key enabler of the European Commission’s Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy.

At Airspace World 2023 in Geneva our research scientists will present our results from, amongst other projects, SESAR 2020. Come join us at our stand at D3/A for a Norwegian snack and to talk to our research scientists with world-leading expertise in optimization, Human Computer Interface, automation, 3D modelling and Remote Towers.

SINTEF is shaping the future of aviation and our research scientists have developed technology for Total Airport Management, traffic sequencing, Dynamic Airspace Configuration (DAC), Remote Towers, Satellite Navigation (GBAS), Satellite Communication and have layed the foundation for the integration of new unmanned entrants to the air traffic environment.

Do not miss these events at Airspace World:

SESAR 2020 Showcase, a Europe for Aviation theatre: 10:30-11.30 Wednesday 8th of March:
Chief Scientist Amela Karahasanovic at SINTEF will present “How to support ATCOs in Dynamic Airspace Configurations environment“ at the session “Powerhouse solutions for optimising network traffic” at SESAR 2020 Showcase, a Europe for Aviation theatre.

SINTEF stand at D3/A: 11:00 Wednesday 8th of March:
Senior Research Scientist Dag Kjenstad at SINTEF will present Integrated Runway Sequence Management at SINTEF’s stand D3/A. Tests show that this new planning tool for arrivals and departures can enable 5.1 per cent increased runway capacity and improve the predictability of flights by 60.8 per cent.

SESAR 2020 Showcase, a Europe for Aviation theatre: 11:00 Thursday 9th of March:
Do not miss the presentation of SINTEF’s senior research scientist Erik G. Nilsson "Using speech control to support ATCOs when applying Dynamic Airspace Configurations (DAC)" at the SESAR 2020 Showcase, a Europe for Aviation theatre.

12:00-13:00 Thursday 9th of March (SESAR walking tour):
Join the SESAR 2020 Walking tour and see Senior Research Scientist Erik G. Nilsson at SINTEF demonstrate using speech control to support ATCOs when applying Dynamic Airspace Configurations (DAC).

SINTEF stand at D3/A: 11:00 Friday 10th of March:
Chief Scientist Amela Karahasanovic and Senior Research Scientist Erik G. Nilsson at SINTEF are showing their new Controller Working Positions (CWP) with advanced functionality for supporting ATCO's situational awareness when using Dynamic Airspace Configuration (DAC) at SINTEF’s stand D3/A.
