SINTEF's vision is Technology for a better society, and the research institute has been involved in the aviation industry since the beginning in 1950. We develop new technology for air traffic management and have been a member of the EU programme SESAR since the beginning in 2008. SESAR is the technological pillar of the EU’s Single European Sky policy and a key enabler of the European Commission’s Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy.
At Airspace World 2023 in Geneva our research scientists will present our results from, amongst other projects, SESAR 2020. SINTEF is shaping the future of aviation and our research scientists have developed technology for Total Airport Management, traffic sequencing, Dynamic Airspace Configuration (DAC), Remote Towers, Satellite Navigation (GBAS), Satellite Communication and have layed the foundation for the integration of new unmanned entrants to the air traffic environment.

Senior Research Scientist Dag Kjenstad at SINTEF will present Integrated Runway Sequence Management at SINTEF’s stand D3/A. Tests show that this new planning tool for arrivals and departures can enable 5.1 per cent increased runway capacity and improve the predictability of flights by 60.8 per cent.
