NCS C+ targets the green transformation by developing and maturing promising technologies that remove CO2 or methane from the atmosphere thus generating so-called negative emissions, which have been highlighted as a key component of nearly all pathways to limit warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. These technologies are referred to as climate-positive technologies.
The four climate-positive concepts to be studied are strongly intertwined with Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) through both or either the removal of CO2 and the storage of these emissions. This enables strong synergies with the Green Platform Main Project LINCCS (Linking large-scale, cost-effective, permanent offshore storage across the value chain) which plans to take rapid action to commercially deploy CCS.
