ACCSESS takes a cross-sectorial approach, addressing Pulp and Paper, Cement, Waste to Energy, and Biorefining, that all have the potential to contribute to net Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) from the atmosphere. An environmentally benign enzymatic solvent will be tested at Fortum Oslo Varme, TCM, a Stora Enso Kraft pulp mill in Sweden and at a HeidelbergCement kiln in Poland.
Furthermore, CCUS chains from inland Europe and the Baltics to the North Sea will be developed and optimized and procedures for safe and time/cost efficient operational procedures for offloading/loading of tanks (e.g. on ships) along the CO2 transport chain.
Also, ACCSESS will engage with cities and citizens, explaining how CCUS can contribute to the production of climate neutral or climate positive end-products in a sustainable cities' context.
